William Keihn’s updated approach to the classic psychedelic aesthetic has me totally rethinking my normal aversion to bright colors and hallucinatory imagery. Maybe it’s because this reminds me more of punk zines and my friends’ bands playing the Knockout than you, know, that Summer of Love festival.
SF-based Keihn is probably best known for creating those weird, colorful Thee Oh Sees album covers. But his punk-infused-psychedelic flyer art is what really slays me.
[Hi/Yay, I went to this show.]
Some of it has that teenage-internet-version-of-the-’90s-thing going on, but like, done right. The monochromatic stuff is still my fav. Check out Mushroom Necklace for more.
Had no idea who did Thee Oh Sees album art. Now I do. Love Keihn’s work.
Soda Bar and the Irenic are some cool San Diego venues. Represent.
I was planning on looking up where Soda Bar was… SD, eh? Nice.
Groovy as always.
