YBA posterchild Tracey Emin makes fabulous art/poetry with neon signs. She was also KNIGHTED by the queen this year.
I don’t know, these are really doing it for me today. The grandeur, the love and romance… coupled with the inherent seediness of a neon sign. It’s like putting a Klimt on display at the sketchy corner store on 19th and Capp. Kind of beautiful, perhaps dirty, and ultimately sad, I think.
I’m in a mood to take the statements for what they are today though. Sarcasm or not, them’s some powerful words.
