Three members of Russian feminist punk band Pussy Riot are facing up to seven years in prison for “hooliganism motivated by religious hate.” Tomorrow, their verdict will be announced, and more than anything, it will bring to light the future of freedom of expression in Russia under the current political and religious leadership. In cities across the world (including our very own SF) people will be gathering to show their solidarity with the punk dissidents.

Oh, I forgot to mention what exactly these ladies are being prosecuted for. Watch the video below- if you’re thinking to yourself, “What the fuck? People are being incarcerated for performing a song?” you’re not alone- thousands of politicians, musicians, and other famous folks and “important figures” have come out and publicly announced their support for Pussy Riot in a pretty awesome show of global solidarity.
