Arts Bombast: Rene Ricard
Tonight (!) is the opening for Warholian art hero Rene Ricard’s “New Paintings and Not So New” at Highlight Gallery here in SF.
I’m not sure why he has never reached the same level of recognition as so many of his contemporaries, including those whose careers he helped launch, like Basquiat , Julian Schnabel and Keith Haring. In any case, even if you can’t make it to the opening, this exhibit of the New York painter/poet’s work is absolutely not to be missed. It will be on display at Highlight through December 9th.
