Morrissey is probably the only person more obsessed with Linder Sterling than me. Linder is not only an amazing feminist artist, she is also the lead singer of the Manchester post-punk band Ludus. In the late seventies, Linder decided to try her hand at photomontage, her arsenal being a stack of men’s porn mags, and women’s domestic mags. According to an interview in Totally Wired, some of her early influences include Yoko Ono, Carrie, “overweight lumpy transvestites,” Reichian therapy, and sexual-political literature. She later went on to become a bodybuilder. Seriously. Check out these MIND-BLOWING montages and her art book, Linder: Works 1976-2006.
