‘hola’ love the show. found it…well I forget how, but I found it about the same time I moved to Peru from Montreal for a year in April. At that time I made two goals: learn to surf and find female fronted spanish punk. And I haven’t really found anything worth writing home to about. Metal, the backstreet boys, and cumbia are really popular here. I’m convinced it actually still is the nineties here in Peru, and that means there has to be some good female fronted punk someway in the country. (There are tons of other really cool things here. Enjoying them while keeping eyes on the goal). What the fuck am I talking about? Okay, so then this week I found Las Ultrasonicas (on the internet) randomly and a cover of them doing I wanna be your dog (which is a song I love). Anyways. I was happy to hear you play them. choque el patriarcado?
Hey! That is awesome. I love Peru. I actually know of a female-fronted punk band from there too… Metadona. Found out about ’em from a comp called Atropello! Peruvian Punk-Hardcore. As for female-fronted Spanish punk, you’ve got Cocadictos, Alma Y Los Cadáveres, Último Resorte, Chute de Esperma, Charol and my personal fav, Las Vulpess. I’m sure more too.
Mil gracias por tu apoyo, y claro que si, ¡choque el patriarcado! 🙂
Also, I know they were inspired by a pair of heels created by Lady Gaga’s designer, Kermit Tesoro. If you google “Kermit Tesoro skull heels” you might be able to find ’em? Hopefully that helps, somewhat. Godspeed!
I really enjoy listening to live broadcasts and podcasts of Ribbon Around A Bomb.I don’t know if my making a request to be played in advance will be honored, but I would like to submit one.My heart goes out to political prisoners everywhere,in particular those without benefits of access to punk music,or privacy to exercise their chosen sexual orientation. Some being beaten to death for doing such. As I understand, this coming Saturday,August 17-2013,there will be a day of solidarity for all supporters of the punk band Pussy Riot and their collective movement.Being a supporter in favor of them both I would humbly ask to make a request, even if it isn’t played, for songs which for me have enough explosive urgency to say what I feel right now against the injustice, which also deeply effects my heart. The two songs are “Capri Pants” by Bikini Kill, and “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Julie Ruin.I deeply appreciate the chance of showing how much I am moved by the mission of Pussy Riot.I would wish for them to be released now,and by all means, kept bright in the eyes of the world beyond confinement.Thank you La Lengua.Thank you Radio Around A Bomb. xoxo,Kevin.

Hi, you posted a picture of a pair of heels with skulls on the heel. Do you happen to know where they can be purchased? Thanks
Okay, I don’t know exactly where you can purchase them, but I can give you a lead: I found them here: http://www.i4pc.jp/photo/147684251476397608_10117786

I still have several Bettie Page items, and a Bettie Page t-shirt.
